Your old capacitor will be replaced with the new upgrade kit consisting of a Lithium Ion battery, bridge and insulator.
Seiko no longer sells the old capacitor. You should see a great improvement in the charge capacity. Your watch will
last considerably longer between charges. This installation requires an expertise that most shops just don't want
to tackle. Many old watchmaker shops just don't want to work on small electrical things and Jewelery stores will
probably send your watch to a job-shop or a "Factory", where they are usually backed-up for months. No need
to wait here! We do it fast (3-4 days) and professionally with a full 1 year, no quibble warranty. We have parts
on hand for most Seiko Kinetic models. Be sure and include your model number when you place your order.
I have the experience. expertise and the
proper microscopic equipment for the correct installation and alignment that is required. If the alignment
isn't perfect, then early failure may occur and this might happen outside you warranty period. I use
a high power binocular microscope that allows the installation to be perfect every time. Why take a chance with others,
when we have the equipment and process to do it right the first time.
Internal Visual Inspection:
Using my high power microscopic equipment, I will also thoroughly inspect your watch
for any evidence of corrosion or moisture damage. This is done after I have removed the old capacitor. Then I can determine
if the old capacitor has leaked any corroisive contamination and has caused any damage. I will let you know if I see
any problems that need to be addressed. This is not a common problem, but, it is can be very damaging to your watch if it
happens. I also look for evidence of any damage from moisture. The O-ring seal areas are also inspected for any damage and
cleaned and lubricated. In this level I replace the case back O-ring, as it generally has been damaged by age and the pressure
of the case back.
Movement
Current Drain Test:
I have the equipment
and the expertise to measure and determine if your Kinetic watch movement is causing excessive current drain on your capacitor/battery.
This can be a contributive factor to a deteriorating charge capacity, in addition to the capacitor. This of course
you would notice as your charge would not last as long as when it was new. As movements get old, the lubricant oils dry out
and gears can get gummy that will cause increased friction. The movement current drain will increase
as it tries to compensate for this and draw down the battery charge faster. We warranty your new Lithium battery for 1 yr,
and will replace it without a quibble, however, if your movement is going bad, we cannot guarantee the movement, unless it
is also replaced. But, we will credit what you paid for the capacitor upgrade towards the replacement cost of a new movement
under the 1 year warranty. Fair enough?
Bottom line: We just do more for you money to get it done right the
first time.
Things to Consider:
A new battery may not
totally make your watch as good as new, but we can generally tell you if it looks like your movement is going bad and then
you can decide if you want it replaced. Most shops will just slap in a new capacitor and ship it back to
you without a lot of time taken to thoroughly test it out. I like to at least bench test it for a minimum of 24 hours or longer
if it's ok with you.
Please Note:
For an additional $10 I will ultrasonically clean your watch band and
replace your spring
pins.
