1. Please explain your quote.
Our diagnostic charge is actually a quote that includes parts and labor to perform the repair/service. It is
not an "estimate" and tnen you find out later that the cost will be much higher. We will only do work for
the additional services that your approve For our labor, to perform the diagnostics we need to charge a nominal
fee of $25. Your watch will be thoroughly examined and tested to determine the cause of the problem/s that you
have reported. From our experience and expertise we can pinpoint what is needed to correct the problem/s. In most
cases, a proper cleaning and lubrication is all that is required. For quartz watches this may not be adequate to solve the
problem and a replacement of the movement may be required. As quartz watches age the wear on the internal parts parts, due
to the lack of proper lubrication and exposure to moisture, causes them to be erratic or just plain stop. You will notice
that new batteries will no longer get them running again.
Today, replacing the movement is a relatively inexpensive way to provide
our customers with their sentimental watch back running again like new. Why purchase another watch that you may
not even like as well? We have some excellent suppliers that provide very high quality quartz movements that are equal
to or in most cases much better than the original. Also, please note that included in our quotes is the necessary cost of
proper sealing and testing of your watch to the original moisture protection capability. We do a thorough job of checking
your crystal and we replace all seals and properly seal with long lasting silicone's. We highly recommend replacing your
Crystal if it has any cracks. Our "tune-ups" are competitively priced and include these services.
If you decide to go ahead with
the repair/service then we will credit you the $25 towards the cost of the repair/service. If you decide not to proceed
with the repair/service then in most cases the $25 will also cover the cost to ship it back to you. If your watch has a value
over $500, then shipping via UPS Registered Mail will entail a few extra dollars to be properly protected and insured.
2. Question:
If I decide to have you repair/service my watch, how do I know that your prices are reasonable?
Answer: If you want to do some checking after you receive
our quote, please feel free to do so. If you decide to then have us do the work, we will be happy to do this for you.
But we are confident that our prices are competitive for the quality and guaranteed work that we do.
We do all our own repairs/service. We do not outsource our jobs to others who do not have same reputation to maintain
or the financial investment that we have.
Wouldn't you like to have the job done right
by a Certified Master Horologist instead of done by someone who may not be as professional as we are? We see way too
many botched jobs done to some really fine watches. Where it should have been just a simple repair, someone's watch was
turned into a disaster and a costly one at that to restore. Be careful on "low ball quotes" and who you entrust
your fine watch too. Being a "Professional" also means we may not be able to repair every watch that comes
in and we must be upfront with a customer and return the watch with our regrets. In the end, the customer has to decide if
their watch is worth the cost of a repair. Sometimes the answer is YES, because the watch has a "special" meaning
for someone.
Please note the professional societies and organizations that we belong to. We also have a network of contacts within
the profession where we receive up to date information on where to get very hard to find parts and services.
3. Question: How long will it take to get my watch back?:
Answer:
Typically, we can get your watch back in the mail to you withing 10 to 14 days after we receive it. If the parts are
harder than normal to get, then of course it will take longer. Since we have all our own service equipment that includes
the best ultrasonic cleaning machines and the vary latest in special timing machines, we are able to do all of these services
in house, under our control. This means a faster and better service for you and a watch that will perform for you for
many years to come
How
long does a factory shop take or some others? Some times, 2 to 3 months! Often, they don't get it right and back
it goes again. UGH!! Keep in mind, we will get your watch back fast to you and even if for some reason we are
unable to fix your watch in a timely manner we won't keep it for weeks and then tell you that we are sending it
back to you, unfixed.
4. Question: What assurance do I have
in case my watch gets lost or stolen or whatever?
Answer: While in
my possession, all watches are covered by my insurance policy, Jeweler's Mutual Insurance. If your watch is
valued over $500, be sure and get insurance from the post office and send Registered Mail/Insured. I will return to
you in the same manner. I have lived in this area for over 44 years and can provide numerous personal references and recommendations.
This includes local law enforcement personal references for my honesty and integrity.
5. Question: What about the quality of the parts you use?
Answer:
Be assured that I only use exact factory replacement parts that have the same quality or better than the originals.
I guarantee all of my work for one year. I cannot afford to have my reputation affected or the cost to me to do the
work again because I tried to save a little on a part. In some cases a factory part is no longer available and an equal
or better quality after market part will need to be used. These will carry the same guarantee from me, that is a one year
warranty. We only ask that you pay the return shipping costs for your watch.
